Anyone see the Colorado man that had to cut his toes off with his pocket knife?

I can't help but think of something my old man used to say. "It doesn't have to be big, just sharp."

Carl.

Or maybe "You don't have act tough all the time, you just need two big hairy ones"
Or something like that :)

wait a min, on the other thread with this same story the guy waited an hour, then it turned in to 30 mins, now he waited 12 hours? anyone know how long he really waited? either way, it sucks but at least he survived.

Or the guy could have just punctured the tire and let the air out, and if that doesn't free his foot he could have used the knife to cut a chunk off of the tire.

Kind of makes me want to invest in steel toed shoes:D.

I've always heard that if enough weight falls on to a steel toe boot it will shear your toes off anyway when it collapses. I guess in this case that might have helped out...

I wonder what would happen if the air was let out...would it be the rim resting on his foot then?

Yes, but how did he manage to get the wheelbarrow he carts his balls around in, in the truck with a bad foot.

From the article I read, he was trapped between a part of the trailer and the axle. It was the equiptment and part of the trailer that had his foot in a bear trap. He'd have needed a cutting torch to get out.

Carl.
