anyone see the titanium Strider fixed blades? has no carbide edge. :O

Anyone seen these? What's interesting is that they're ground on both sides and without a carbide edge.

I saw them this morning, no idea how that works unless they utilize a similar process to mission knives "beta" titanium.

Would love to have more detail!
 
It's gotta be Beta. I don't know how else to get a good edge on Ti other than a carbide edge, but I know that Beta Ti can supposedly be sharpened just like steel.
 
That it can take an edge doesn't mean it will hold it. IIRC the best Titanium can get to the high 40's Rc range.

I expect this would be for people who don't want the brittleness of a carbide edge. You're probably less likely to lose the tip on this knife.

Beta Ti can be hardened up to 60HRC. Of course it makes the composition more brittle, but you still have the anti corrosive abilities of Ti.
