Anyone seen the Huusk knife scam ads ?

I do hear what you are saying....I'd like to see proof they aren't what they claim to be is all....Something is not automatically a scam just because it looks too good....Maybe it's not made by a Jedi Master Blade Smith from the 1600's but it may well be as nice a knife as they illustrate (as in of good quality material and craftsmanship) and Made in Japan...we shall see...I am a knife collector...so I'll be able to spot it if it's off center
They claim it's forged when you can see it's not, and they claim it is handmade by a master Smith who want's to sell it for the cost of material and refuses to make a profit.

You can clearly see the first claim isn't true, and the 2nd while technically possible is completely unheard of.

With that in mind why give them the benefit of the doubt at all ?

They're making at least one statement that is visibly not true , that should be enough to write them off even without all the other stuff which goes against logic.

I took a look at other websites for this knife...No $9 or $15 knives out there like this one that I've seen. I ordered two for $58 tax and shipping total...We'll see what they look like when received. If they don't pass the test I'll return them. That's the bottom line.
Using what I see here...I don't think anyone out there is trustworthy these days. All things are apparently cheap fakes now. And even if it's stamped Made in Germany or Japan...it's really made in China. What they will do is charge $400 for a similar knife and sell it at Costco. And that apparently is good enough to convince many they're getting quality. I may sound like I'm making fun of what I'm reading here. I'm not.
I do prefer knives made 50 years ago though. And for obviously reasons.

The way I see it these knives are essentially counterfeit.

Every knife brand brings more than just it's name, if you didn't receive the real thing it wasn't the name that you didn't receive it was physical properties of the authentic knife that you didn't get.

You are buying the physical properties known to or claimed of a knife with that name on it, in both that situation and this Huusk knives situation you aren't really getting what you were sold .( the language that prompted the sale )

And yes I still believe 100% that the knives are not what they claim.

I had not read your last post before responding.
Yes, I was taken in by the advertisement. And it was a good one. But absolutely no way I would have bothered otherwise.
No way possible it's what they claimed it to be. And what finally got me was the fact that so may look alike knives are out there. And the fact that all of a sudden they are now Japa too. More than likely a fake 'Drop Ship ' item Made in China.
Paying more for a similar product with a proven name is best. And I already have those.
Thanks again.

There is way too much time and effort spent on this thread on cheap Chinese made knives.
Yes, but hopefully someone who even comes here looking for information on them will find this thread and not have to ask.
I'm not sure anyone is even gonna remember these at that point anyways.

Discussion is up to the member. You don't have to spend any time here on this subject. Your choice.
Personally, I found it helpful. And in my opinion worthwhile. There are plenty of other categories to occupy your time here.
Btw. The knife in 'subject' is marked Made in Japan. We don't know for sure 'Where' it is made.
Maybe you could find out for us ?

Did they give you refund yet?
Not yet...they already replied they could not refund due to it having been 'shipped' already. I had just received an email from them saying it would be shipped soon as it was in manufacturing process. So they are obviously liars. That's pretty much confirmation of the whole thing.
PayPal is working on it...But if they drag their feet I'll have my bank cancel it.
>>As a matter of fact, I'll have the bank do that Tuesday. I know what this is already. Fraud...at least on the billing end of it. And that's what I will tell the bank.
Yes it is probably a knife that will cut something...that's not the whole point though.
At least maybe this discussion will be a help to others.

The point being that any kitchen knife that costs $30 isn't going to be a high quality knife. There's a 0% chance that it's hand forged in Japan when hand forged knives from Vietnam are double the cost of this knife. Of course, you're free to research and discuss it as much as you want.

Yep...I've heard enough...just did one of my "impulsive" purchases...Normally regret those

You can get a high quality knife for $30 or less depending on what you think constitutes high quality.
Old hickory, Dexter Russell, and Victorinox are all high quality for $30 or less.

But back to the topic of Huusk knives, it is obvious to us here that these claims are very highly unlikely and unheard of but not to everyone out there.

Somebody who doesn't know as much about knives ( I'm certainly no expert) may buy or be gifted one, and with the existence of this thread they can find answers without having to ask.

RE HUUSK Knives....I have seen China duplicate items before. I ordered what I thought was a great deal on a mechanical Razor. It turned out China has exactly duplicated the item down to the packaging...except for the weight.
Re Huusk Knives now. I have taken a close look at Ebay and noticed that the knives are very similar...but not exactly correct with what the Huusk website sells....The markings are about right but different....Whereas the company website offers a very nice looking reasonably priced knife.
I ordered what I thought to be a Case prototype once from Ebay. It has "Wuhan" very faintly marked on the blade about half way up. I got my money back on that one for sure.
So I'm going to check out the factory website ordered Huusk and report back. I'm noticing almost everyone automatically assumes a 'Scam' but I see not one bit of evidence to that effect yet.
The evidence it is a scam is their lies, they are not hand made knives, they are not Japanese knives, they are not made in the "traditional way of japanese bladesmithing" They are junk. The scam isn't the fact they are junk, the scam is false claims of authenticity, hinting at traditional japanese crafted knives, which have world wide recognition by professionals as being the worlds finest kitchen knives. So they are using the credibility and quality control standards of Japanese high end knives to trick customers with little knowledge into thinking they are getting a good deal. A real Japanese kitchen knife for cheap $$. When all you will get is a cheap piece of junk mass produced in assembly lines. So yes this is a scam, a scam of truth and integrity.

They are not made in Japan we have proof, because we have located the factory who makes them in China on Alibaba. The knife sells for 9 dollars and even less if you buy in bulk orders over 500+ units. You won't get a Hand forged high end japanese kitchen knife made of premium steel for $60 anybody claiming they have are lying because it costs more than that to even produce one.

He has already figured this out, but you are absolutely right.

I've basically already ended conversing on this "Dead Horse"....So anyone asking if I'm giving Huusk free press is not reading this blog. Why take the time to comment if you're not going to follow the conversations ?
Thanks for the help here.
I really don't think this was a waste of time at all. This is exactly what Blade Forums are here for.
