I super lightly did my 3 and had no issues with rust. I did not want it blued like a gun nor did I want to polish it, I stripped her ,lightly wiped on the blue and washed her clean 5 minutes later...

when i stripped my izzy my blade has an indentation at about the middle of the blade. but i fiqured its got character so i just kept it.
