Anyone shave with their EDC?

So I showed up for midnight (but really 8pm) mass today having forgotten to shave. Actually I'm on vacation so I haven't shaved in 3 days. My wife insisted that I clean it up so I went to the bathroom and gave myself a full shave with my EDC. It took a while, and was the roughest shave I've had since I was about 16, but got the job done.

Anyone else ever do this? Knife was a griptillian in cpm-m4. It has the factory edge, never sharpened, but I did strop it recently.

Uhh, no. I'd rather walk around with a beard than have a shave at the hands of a working edge on any of my knives. I'd even go to the little shops in the hotels and buy a razor.

BM Rift in 154CM or Caly Super Blue work very well. M390 is ok but a bit more rough. M4 is a tough shave IMO but nice work keeping the Mrs. happy.

Shave? Pfft, beards are what separate us from women and children :D Also, generally speaking straight razors are a different kind of sharp than knife sharp

Ya think? :p

Probably why it takes a special(not too bright?) kind of knife nut to shave with his edc. ;)

Singularity, what do you finish your M4 on? I can't seem to finish it as keen as my other steels.

I used to finish with 1u DMT paste but that knife on the vid didn't come straight from sharpening. It had been used a little. Notice the scraping...

I did notice that the M4 on that GB was a bit hard(resisted my grinding a bit :D) but once it was reprofiled, it was one of the knives that I could get the sharpest.

I've done it a few times just to prove that I can, its the roughest most uneven shave I have ever has in my life. Not recommended unless you thin the edge down a lot

You men are strange creatures. Shaving with knives and such. Lol.
Being related to a boy that shaves every day, I'll assume it'd be very difficult to shave with a knife, even if it's sharp.
Plus it could be pretty dangerous as well.
I would be careful but I'd also do what I could do have a razor on hand.
Knives are for EDC use and work.
Razors are for shaving.
That's why we have both. =]

Haha, you are right but strange creatures that we all are, we don't do things just because they are easy. I stopped shaving with my edc because one moment of inattention and...

I try it occasionally when I think I've gotten a knife really sharp. But I don't try to shave my whole face, just to see how it does. I will also use my knife when I miss a spot and it is annoying me and I'm not home.

I shaved with a Military in S30V before in a pinch, it worked very well. :)

Not something I would want to do on a daily basis though.

For the last 6 months, I wet-shave using either: bm940 s30v, endura vg-10, gb cpm-m4, dragonfly zdp-189, stretch cf. Currently, Dragonfly is my primary shaver. DE is comfy, straight gives rush, edc sometime you get both. Edge imperfections burn; perfection waste time <= obviously I wasted a lot of time

I've thought of this, and thought about scenarios where I may be forced to use an edc blade to shave but the thing is, my beard is EPIC thick. Each hair is super robust, I dont think I can do it.
