Anyone Shooting RWS Diana Air Rifles ?

Eric,

Thankfully, neither of my rear sights wobble at all. Those pellets are a .12 caliber (I microed it) zinc allow pointed spitzer bullet shape in a plastic sleeve. I haven't shot more than 20 or so due to the reduced weight not providing enough resistance for the piston. Neat supersonic crack! In this link, they look like the green ones but in .177 they have clear plastic: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...de=IF&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat600837

Check your email, I sent you the file...

Hey APS,

I wouldnt mind a copy of the file either. I am trying to find a good pellet for my m48 and if you have tried some in yours it could help me narrow my search. Thanks!

Ryan

Any of you guys shoot the M34? Are you happy with it?
Is the M48 worth a $130 more?

TIA!

Yes and yes. It's a nice rifle, good and accurate. The only thing I regret is that I bought the .177 model rather than the .22.

Chip, I have the 48 and 34 (accidentally posted 36 prior). For plinking I prefer the 34 as it's lighter, easier to cock and the iron sights allow a finer sight picture. Mine is a .22 and the on-target performance is more satisfying.
My .177 34 is heavier, especially with scope and mount must be close to 10 lbs. Harder to cock. About 20% more energy if you are hunting. The 34 definately needs less hold over than the .22 past 25 yards.
When I walk the woods I definately don't carry the 34.

Thanks for the replys, guys. That is what has me wanting the 34, it's a pound lighter.:D

Eric,

Thanks for starting this great thread. My in-laws used to have a lake house with cedar siding. The dad-gum squirrels kept chewing the heck out of it and getting into the attic. I've got an RWS model 34 with a Bushnell 4x scope. With it, I quickly brought the population down. Oddly enough, after killing so many fox squirrels, the little greys made a comeback. My favorite squirrel medicine is the 0.177 Superdome.

It's funny to watch people's faces when they first shoot it. They aren't expecting such a sharp recoil impulse. I'd like to get a twin piston model to reduce that.

Hey Guys...
No problem..
gotta love this stuff Eh !!

The 34 is a nice gun no doubt.. The 48 is also a nice gun.. Pretty heavy.. What is nice about the 48 is the fixed barell.. I believe it to be slightly more accurate..

However,, at these speeds, with a light pellet,, the pellet itself can become unstable in flight, and is more prone to crosswind....

What they have been doing to the 48, and I'm not sure who's doing it anymore,,anyway,, they slow the pellet down to around 950fps..
This was being done by applying a heavy tar to the spring, from what I understand...

Awesome guns though..
I'm really enjoying my 350 in 5.5mm..This is the first real .22 pellet rifle I've owned....

Had a problem with my scope mount in the last couple of days.. Looks as though I've gotta get a new one... The Scope mount is an RWS, however it has two different height adjustments, and even when locked down the vibrations from the spring make the front scope mount wander up. Which screws up my point of aim...
so the cure for this is another scope mount for the tune of $70.00.. Going to go pick it up on Monday...
Ohh well,, just another reason to buy another tin of pellets...

As far as Diana goes.. I don't care what model you get,, they are all nice....

Tony...

Yaaa I've handed it to some people that think it's a centerfire rifle... you know they are wondering what it is when they ask what the cocking lever is for on the side of my 48.. LOL

My 350 is at least as heavy as the 48,,and quite a bit longer...It's a hell of alot of gun to carry around,, however I've always prefered a heavier gun...

Whacked a few tree rats with my 48..It zips through them pretty good..Can't wait to try the .22 on them,,especially with the Scope...

My favorite way to hunt tree rats is to find a nice place to sit, bring some snacks and keep an eye out.. If I don't see anything for 15 mins or so,, I move down a little..
Problem is all the deer hunters are out in force right now,, and it's just a matter of time that I run into one sitting in a tree...Seems this is also when I see the most Rats is when I'm deer hunting....

I keep a (Pokey) field tip in my quiver just for them...Had one start chewing on my boot last year sitting in a ground blind.. A Diana handgun my be the next purchase..LOL:)

I'm the pigeon culler for the town when I've got a free hour or two. ( Paid to hunt! A dream come true. )

We have a tremendous surplus of pigeons, thanks to the agri-business in the area and , I presume, a lack of snakes. The pigeons get so thick in the old buildings along the railroad tracks thay they nest in their own dead. I've got an old church tower collapsing under the weight of the droppings. And a west nile virus problem, no suprise. The Diana lets me try to control their population without getting too close.

I use a Diana exactly like Eric's son's, and I also have a little rear sight wobble. It's worrisome when I'm shooting the birds off of stained glass window ledges, but otherwise I am completely happy with the rifle. This year alone I've disposed of over 700 pigeons with it, and "she" has a long history of vermin control before me.

Incidentally, for pest control, I use the pointed pellets. The wadcutters won't always penetrate a pigeon's feathers or a squirrel' skull, mandating multiple shots for a clean kill. I don't like the Copperhead pellets in the round tin, as the tin spills to easy when you are opening it.

I'm glad I didn't have to buy the one I use now, but I will buy a Diana for my own use eventually. A great tool.

Take Care,
Jeff
