Just curious, has anyone else had a problem with eyelets splitting recently. I know several of us went through this a while back..Just got a new batch in and about 95% of them are splitting :grumpy: I know for certain its not our dies or equipment..i know the supplier will replace them and its not their fault but it just took 40+ rivets to get 4 good ones and that's aggravating..
Has anyone else had this problem lately? Also if you have ordered rivets lately with NO problems were did you get them? thanks

Mine have been splitting. I ended up getting success by 4-5 lighter than normal taps with the hammer which is a pain in the butt. The ones I bought from knifekits however, have all been great.

I ordered some from knife kits and their expensive dies and I'm having no issues using a arbor press. 1/4" kydex rivits if that's what you're talking about.

I had some issues a while back until I realized I was putting them upside down in my press! Who would've known?

I use thoes dies as well and there eyelets and don't have a problem. But I do have a problem with any color besides black with the color coming off. I just use black now because it's to much of a hassle to deal with. When I order eyelets I order a bunch at a time and I'm still using what I ordered 5 months ago.

I only use Knife Kits eyelets anymore. They did have that problem but it was resolved.

Many suppliers get their eyelets from Index Fastners and I find them subpar. They sometimes split and the finish rubs off just by setting them.

If you are finding most are splitting either you have some from the bad batch or there is a new bad batch.

I hate to bring up old threads, but I am having these problems now. Anyone else? I got my eyelets from Tx Knife Supply. They are splitting and the finish is rubbing off. Maybe another bad batch made its way into the market?

What tool are you using and how are you flaring them, hammer or press? You said the color is coming off, what color are you using?
