Anyone still like puukkos?

I love puukkos. I currently have one. It is an inexpensive blade combined with handle and sheath of my making. I love it.

The only thing is, I cannot get the hang of sharpening it, so I just set the edge at 20 degrees -- microbeveled it. I know, people say it is supposed to be easy to sharpen on the one bevel, but I just could not get a good edge that way, so I resorted to sharpening at 20 degrees, freehanded. I guess whatever works, works.

I put too much wax on the upper half of the sheath, and that darkened the nice turquoise color -- yuck!

He's back from his term of service in the army and has already posted a couple beauties since he's been back. I have a two knife set that should be finished soon-ish and I can't wait to get them. My single Kallioniemi puukko is getting lonely.

Did I mention that he is in his early twenties? I can't wait to see the quality of his work when he reaches Jukka Hankala's age.

I appreciate these knives more as a result of this thread. Some of you guys take very good pictures; Maybe better than in the promotional material of the manufacturers. I can see how really nice the curly birch can be.

I love them, couple pieces more than three, you never know ;)

Puronvarsi? I think I recognize that one with the peened guard, because I have seen it on youtube, splitting firewood. Here is another Puronvarsi going through cardboard:

I am very impressed with the edge holding here. They say these are made with Krupp carbon steel, and that would be a steel that has been around for 80 years or more.

Four year old thread. Doubt the original folk are still looking.

Don't raise the dead, start a new thread. ;)
