I read an article in ASG of a guy who used Stihl bars for a starting point for a machete. He said that Stihls bars are a better material (proprietory secret?) for such a project than other manufacturers. Though not as flexible, they're thicker and might be good choppers & splitters(maybe tempered and hold an edge too?). Anyone else heard of or tried this for any type of blade?
