I recently found out I'm have child on the way, so I need to get some good juju going my way.

I remember when I first started out with my 2x42. I couldn't wait to get off work to use it. One thing I did not take for granted was good belts. Now that I have a 2x72 Pheer grinder I wanted to give back to a new maker.

I know it's not much, but I have 6 × 60 grit ceramic belts and 2 trizact gator belts(160, 300).

I will give these away to the first maker that post in this thread and post a picture of their 2x42. Maybe post a mod you did or a tip you can share about it. I will take care of shipping. Btw It might take me a few days to get it out.

I use one. For a beginner maker it is much better than the 1 inch grinders. One thing I did was upgrade the flat platen by JB welding a piece of ceramic to the steel, mnuch more even grinds. Pics to follow.

This pic shows my shop back in Virginia. I am now stationed overseas and shipped the mini mill, mini lathe and trusty 2x42 Craftsman. EOD Mobile unit was gracious enough to alot me some space in a workshop space to make dust.

I too use the 2x42. I made a new platen and added a ceramic liner, added a threaded knob for tracking adjustment without a key, modified the right side of the table for easier belt access, and also modified the rear shroud to allow the much thicker scotch brite belts.

Please, if at all possible, send them to Navman. Navman, thank you for your service!

Chris, great set up and thank you.

I forgot to type in originally. Chavez556, congratulations!!! Children change lives more so than any other event.

Another "mod" (sort of) is to wrap a bit of electrical tape on the center of the drive wheel. This helps keep the belt tracking straight.

Thanks Again.

I have one too, I took the disk sander off and put a 2 HP motor on instead and stepped down the speed to 1400 RPM. It's very usable now especially with some ceramic belts

Navman, That's a damn nice combination of tools for knife making on one workbench without spending a lot of money. Or at least money spent on the right things, the way I make knives anyway.
