RR,
I've been moving in that direction. Last winter, with the intent of lightening my tool load, I tested using a BK7 as my largest wood processing and camp blade for backpacking, and it worked well, as you would know.
This year, I'm pairing it with just a Buck Vantage Avid folder when backpacking. I have a few good folders, but chose the Avid because it was inexpensive, has excellent one-handed operation, and most importantly, it has a fully open frame for ease of cleaning in the field.
It doesn't hold an edge like my 154CM folders, but sharpens-up easily on my small ceramic field stone. It will mostly be used for food prep and cutting redundancy, and will otherwise ride in my front pocket when moving under load.
By the way, it was less than $40 bucks and made in the US. I'll see if I can remember to snap a decent pick of the folder.
