hahaha, I was just having some good natured fun Colt6731. I understand your point of view, I just wanted to give my 2 cents as to why military gear is so useful in the woods.
I grew up with family members who would go into town to the surplus store, or meet up with veterans, and buy the packs and clothes. Mostly because it was just good solid hiking/bush gear and it was cheap to buy. Over the years i had mainstream colorful hiking gear and clothes, but they always failed or wore out way too quickly. My surplus gear kept on going and going. As i got into my late 30's i found the newer military gear, and loved the fact i could add or subtract pouches from it, or customize it to the trip requirements. I also injured my back and found backpacks aggravated the injury. so i picked up a chest rig and that solved that problem.
anyways, welcome back, hope no hard feelings about my previous post.
