I have several e-tools from family members who where in the military. I thought about putting a slight edge on one of them to use as a chopper in a pinch. Before I do I would like to hear from others who have experience doing this
I've used an e-tool as a chopper many times. Mostly for me it was 'improvisation' as I did not have another suitable chopper on hand. It will get the job done, but will not be as effective as a real chopper such as an axe, hatchet or big knife. Hard use as a chopper will also eventually break the e-tool.
The curve of the blade makes it a horrible chopper, it will last you about 5 minutes before you break the bolts that hold it together. Get a small hatchet and you will find that much more useful.
I used to have a cold steel shovel that was great, sharpened one edge and it would do well for light chopping. of course an ax is preferable but you might want to give the cs a try.
