Anyone use Ballistol?

I've tried just about every easily available product (5 or 6) and Ballistol is BY FAR the best at cleaning rust. It's the number 1 cleaner in the sword community, just incredible how it removes even slight patina.

I use this one that comes in a flask.

I MUST find that flask version now! Christmas gift for my Brother if nothing else. Thanks!

Great stuff for me over decades.

View attachment 1343942 Does anyone use Ballistol?? How good does it work on knives or guns??

I've been experimenting with Ballistol for the better part of a year. For knives, it's good on pivots and on surfaces I don't want to leave bare. For gun lubrication, it seems a satisfactory replacement for Go Juice or other gun oils. I was skeptical of the claims that it could be used as a cleaner. Most of my guns aren't extremely filthy after a day of shooting, so efficacy of a cleaner is difficult to gauge. But I've used Ballistol once on an AR, and I was blown away. The powder residue became black goop, and it was pretty easy to wipe it away.

I've used it on wood, and it left a desirable sheen. I'm pretty protective of my top-shelf gun leather. Regardless of the claims, there's no way Ballistol is going to get rubbed into any of my leather goods.

Thanks, guys. I only managed to make a "C" in high school chemistry, so I wasn't sure if I was asking a dumb question.

I've read some horror stories about Balistol turning GEC liners green, discoloring, tarnishing. C is passing . I would be very hesitant to use this on most traditional knives.

Black powder shooters swear by Balistol for cleaning.
I use it on guns, knives, and tools, etc. that I touch with my hands. Our skin soaks up chemicals: It's best that we use non-toxic stuff.

I use it, but not exclusively. It is a handy product for axes, saws, firearms, knives etc. Even rusty hinges.

use it for my straight razors, they are in the bathroom. I clean them after each shave and wipe with a thin film of balisstol. Never had any rust on them in and No rust. Have used it for years.
Not in the last year though. My beard is strong from working at home.
