Anyone use the RAT survival kits?

Out of the jungle and just catching up quickly on the forum. These kits are new. We're building them out for the aircrerw guys we're training and we added them to our regular lineup. They sell out every time we get them stocked. Right now we have none in stock since the next 6 kits go to Peru again. The reason for the larger knife is as Mike said. This training that we just finished had the RC6 being used a lot in our fire building. One of the airborne guys going through the training is a forum member here so I'm sure he'll be posting more up on the trip. Robert knows his stuff and one of the best jungle navigators I have seen. Damn glad he was part of the class!

some comments I posted in another thread on the kit that I had an opportunity to use last week:

...
We each had a Rat Cutlery Comprehensive Survival Kit complete with an RC-6. This kit is very well put together, I've seen various survival kits and I can honestly say this is one of the best. There was really nothing else that I would have added to this kit, maybe a second redundant fire steel as I tend to lose them (although this is really covered off by the bic lighter) and a second survival blanket. I love these survival blankets, they are much heavier construction than the mylar "single-use" space blankets, complete with grommets, they can be used as tarp, ground sheet, and signal flag. I would highly recommend this kit, and I think it's a steal at $217 especially considering it contains an RC-6 !
