Any of you knifemakers out there use turco for instead of toolwrap?? My question is what to do when it becomes real thick which often happens when you have it a while. It still works when it becomes thick but seems as if it will go on the blade too thick and thus wasting $100. a gallon turco. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Mike

Mike, I just started using it. Mine came as thick as syrup. I thinned a small amount 50/50 with laquer thinner, put in plastic tubular container (drink mix container), and dipped. Came out what I think was fine.
Heat treated, bad results, it started popping off when air quenching ats-34. I don't trust my temp controller, it may have been too hot.
2nd attempt, I dipped, let dry, dipped again, for a nice looking coat light orange. Dropped temp of furnace a little, and this time I air quenched. They came out beautiful.
So you may want to not thin it 50/50, maybe less. I was advised that it works best if you let dry completely until the next day, not just let dry to the touch and into the oven.
