Anyone use wheel grinders?

used mine to profile when i first started, then mounted buffing wheels, and a 2'' x 4'' serrerated wheel on it . run outta small belts for the wheel, so now it's just a door prop or a place for dust to accumulate.

I used to use mine a pretty good bit. Now I just use my KMG or Griz for most things.

My wheel grinder has been unbolted from my bench and now sits on the floor under my workbench. I'm thinkng of selling it.

No Man, don't sell it!...get it out , clean it up, put it on a pedestal, and resurrect it! :)

Use that thing for all it's worth! It might save you a few belts!

The bench grinder is your friend!

As far as saving belts goes, I also use the sides of my grinder to flatten stock. Not a surface grinder but it uniformly removes material, scale etc. gives the work a great foundation for a good polish too.

I use the heck outa mine for profiling, flat grinding (yep thats right) hollow grinding etc etc ... ok ok the flat grinding is easy but takes a lil skill. basically lightly but firmly hold the piece and move it at a 45º angle off the out side edge of the wheel. and canted about 10º to make the bevels. just make sure you return to the same place each time and make a full pass to keep it flat. finish with a hand stone

Thanks for all the replies, much more than I had expected. I had not used my bench grinder for profiling, but will give it a try. I might as well keep the sucker and expand my horizons.
