I'm trying to get back to some long put off projects, and need to make a couple folders. I don't have a surface grinder, or lathe and I'm finding that even though there are a lot more choices in hardware now than a few years ago, none of it fits together (I still managed to spend a fortune on the stuff too)
I'm making frame locks again, and would rather not press fit the stop pins. I looked into the stepped pins that folks are selling now but there aren't any available that will work with a 3/16" blade that I have found. Standoffs are tricky as well, but I ordered oversized ground stock for the blade, .020" washers and should be able to lap .240" standoffs to fit.
So now I need to figure out a stop pin. It seems to me a that a hardened 3/16" pivot pin ought to work pretty well. Anyone see a problem with that? The heads wouldn't be flush, but they are domed, and it would allow for disassembly.
Anybody tried it?
