Anyone used one of these grinders before?

ive used one.... i dont own one, but its great for beginners, i cant afford it though, the slack part is good for sharpening, and that wheell ooh my :D

and use the other side of the grinder as a buffer

I used the 2x36" version (Thanks RDT) made enough for my Burr King with it. BUT, BUT the price of the attachment alone ($189) you can get the Grizz 2x72 attachment for $150 or the whole setup for $325. I bought it because I had 4x36 belts I could rip down to use.

I used the smaller version for my first batch of knives and practice knives. They aren't bad for the price. If you had a multi speed bench grinder to attach them to, you'ld be in even better shape. I believe Ferret still uses one for his knives. At least he did not too long ago. However, once you step up to a Bader 3 or Burr King or KMG, somethingwith more possibilities, you will really notice the difference. It's a great starter !....RDT

I mad this one with it...

RDT,
I bought yours not so long ago..... ;) It ran great and paid for a Burr King in short order. Heck I still have some of those belts left over. I've retired it for sheath making now.

But as nice as it was, it's nothing compared to my Burr King. Getting a good 2x72 grinder has cut my time to make a knife by at least half.

Will,
Cool man ! so the knifemaking is paying off ?! Excellent ! It's a cool ittle machine and I would imagine that the 8" wheel version like the one in the pics is even better. I am in the middle of saving for several things...firstly an engagement ring but next is a variable speed Bader 3. I bought a regular Bader three around the time you bought the multi tool from me. I need another that I can slow down now. Maybe a KMG ? I don't knwo, I have to play with it first. I saw them at Blade show and they looked pretty sweet, especially the cool attachments Mr. Frink maes. Take care bro.....RDT

Hey Mark,

The package came last week, but I didn't even open it until I read your reply and remembered that I got it. I have been so busy with the new job I sat it in the garage and forgot about it. Thanks a bunch! You sent enough material that I had enough left over for a second. I know you said that it was a gift, but I am sending some cash your way. I swear that some of the nicest people I have met are right here on BF!

Kyle

I use the 2x36" version and converted it to run 72" belts. All of my knives are made on this rig. It aint the best, but it works for me.

Chris,
That's neat, I'd thought about doing that. Can you take more pics of the set up so I can see how you did it? How did you do the tracking and the belt change?
Thanks
