Anyone using a CS SRK for dressing, skinning, boning out deer or pigs?

Buck 119...
Can't say that the traditional style of knife really appeals to me Fred1950 Fred1950 , and the phenolic handles are too smooth for my liking. That said, the Buck 692 Vanguard Rubber is on sale here at a local gunstore and it looks pretty good, though I don't see it on Buck's official website.

It has the textured rubber handle. Has it been discontinued perhaps?

No stand down on that last question. I have just found it. They offer the rubber handle as an option.

Have you considered the Cold Steel Drop Forged Hunter? If not, take a look.
Yes, I was looking at the Drop Forged Hunter there for a time C Chris_Texas . First the weight was heavier than I would have liked and then to be comfortable I would have to add some handle sides of some description. I know most just use paracord but that's not me. Have to say though, one helluva lot of blade at a cheap price.

Well, thanks everyone for their input. It has been much appreciated and helped me work out what I really needed in a knife.

So after all the replies of fellow hunters reporting that they have used a SRK to dress out deer in the field I thought the most logical and practical thing to do is to just go with what I have already, the SRK-C.

But let's be honest, being a member of "Blade Addicted Anonymous", logic and practicality doesn't necessarily have to figure in a knife buying exercise.

And to be fair, the two rules of "Blade Addicted Anonymous" are:
Rule 1: You can never have too many knives.
Rule 2: Refer to Rule No. 1

So realising that I was going to pull the trigger on a purchase anyway, a little spark of sanity managed to break through and told me that I wanted a Hunting knife that can also double as a Survival/Outdoor knife rather than the other way around, and went for the Master Hunter. It should arrive in the next few days......

Cheers...

Not if you knew my Sharon you wouldn't......
I only snuck this one in because it is a wet miserable day here and she has been stuck inside and happened to buy herself some more boots online. She didn't really need them and she was feeling a little guilty. I thought right, no better time than to sneak a knife in as well.....when she realises what I have done the blow will be softened at least....😙

I also have the master hunter in 3V. Hell of a knife. With ANY Cold Steel fixed blade make sure you avoid dragging the edge against the garbage sheath when drawing or sheathing the blade as it will dull it quickly. Or replace the sheath.
