anyone using high speed CPM steels

I was wondering if it would be remotely possible to see a blade in Rex 121. What kind of budget for belts would that entail?

looks like it may be a pretty good candidate for a knife..may be hard to grind with all that tungsten, though

The main issue would be its relatively low toughness. Secondarily you'd have to be concerned about how fine an edge you could put on it before the carbides became a problem (although I would have thought that CPM M4 would suffer from this and anecdotally it doesn't).

Go for it! And write up what performance you get.

I use Rex76 for some lathe bits and other tooling but never for a knife. It is some very tough steal and extremely heat resistant.
