Anyone want to trade some steel?

Broke. Again. Looking to try out some new steels, and would rather avoid paying $50 for three feet of something I might not like ($15 for the steel and $35 for the shipping :grumpy: ). Not much on eBay these days... Anyone have any L6, 52100, or anything they might want to trade? Mainly just looking for something new to wrap my head around, nothing specific. Have used O1, O6, D2, A2, 440C, Cruwear, damascus, wootz, 1084, 1095, and 1070. Will trade dollar for dollar or inch per inch, doesn't matter for me. Pretty much just have some old stock O1 (precision ground 1 x 1/8 x 36" bars) that I could trade, unless you'd be interested in D2 shorts, which I have 5 or 6 of. I'm grinding, so they're not doing me much good (they're in the 5" - 6" range, and 3/16" thick). Great for forging, I suppose, but I'm stuck in the 'burbs right now, and the HOA doesn't like the jet engine going in the garage... :jerkit:

Also would be open to trading a Koto katana for a grinder. I know. Odd. Story of my life. Will just save me the bother of having to sell it and then buy one. Incedentally, I've no idea what I'm looking for there, as my head goes to mush when I start reading about transverse idler assembly pulleys and the like. Bit like computers, actually. I turn them on, and they work; that's about all I know. I do flat grinds on full / scale tang knives, I match handle to steel to profile to use, and I have a good bead on that. You start talking about wiring things up, and I start getting nervous. I've just gotten used to working with a grinder after having been a 'heat and whack' guy that played by the book because I was s..t scared of electricity. Never liked power tools, but have become quite fond of grinding.

As always, any mods feel free to detonate, obliterate, or otherwise move / remove this if inappropriate.

Email is easiest, as I don't know if I can get PMs here (one of the bad things about keeping quiet!). I'm at DGuertin (at) SBCGlobal.net. Thanks much all.

Best,

Darryl
