Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone is living with this and if knife making contributed to it in any way.
How are you coping and can you still ply this amazing craft?
What extra precautions do you need to take?

I was diagnosed with it 18 months ago and I find it is a bit restrictive.

They tell me COPD is what I've got - I do use an inhaler each day, but only in morning. I've got a VERY light case, so it's not a real problem with my knife work. I do TRY VERY HARD to be sure I wear a GOOD respirator for grinding most of the time.

Only you can tell if it bothers your COPD or not - again, wear a GOOD respirator when grinding.

powered respirator????/ You mean one with a positive air flow? Full face mask?

I've been dealing with it for the last 5 years, I'm a tough old bastard, my wife tells me so. :) I work in the shop every day, wear a positive pressure filtered respirator. Hand sanding is a pain, there is always a big exhaust fan going.
You only have so much time here, follow your dreams till the very last moment and you will die happy.

Regards, Fred

Thanks for your comments and advice guys, I will get that good respirator.
Fred, we have spoken before on this forum, long ago. Keep on being a tough old bastard;)
