Anything a Delica can do. The Endura does better !

I often carry a 4" endura or military along with my ≤3", thinking it might be more useful, but rarely is.

I believe the knife (knives) that Sal is referring to are these three Kershaw models (largest to smallest) Model 2120 Macho, Model 2110 Honcho, and Model 2105 Little Stud. They were handled in smooth Taiwanese Water Buffalo Bone (died and white) and a special set in petrified wood as shown below. I believe that the white bone handles were made especially for Gary Harbour, who did contract scrimshaw work for Kershaw in the 80s.

I like the Delica and Dragonfly better than the Endura because of the lighter weight. I like the Endura, but not for an EDC. Why carry unnecessary weight when you don't need it?

A guy should have both. I spend most of my time in urban environments that opening an Endura would bring unwanted attention on myself so smaller knives usually get the pocket time. Today I stayed around home and an Endura is riding in my pocket.

OK this is why I traded away both my Delicas for the Enduras..

Food prep--I like the extra blade length and its easier to keep food from getting in the pivot area..

Self Defense--I really hope it never comes down to this. My CCW S&W air-weight lives in my front pocket 365/7 for this.

Back pocket carry--The Enduras extra length is actually more comfortable for me in that pocket. Doesn't move around at all..

Weight--The weight difference between the Delica and the Endura is 1.17oz..Thats unnoticeable.

I have 3-Enduras and 2- Pacific Salts. They are just about the same knife except for the H-1 serrated edge on both my Salts. My Endura4s are FFGs. Other than my fixed blade knives. The Endura and Pacific Salt cover all my needs except for work.
I need a smaller knife. Something as light as possible and its only mission. Open boxes so that's my next Spyderco purchase???
Whatever it may be??

EDIT- Forgot to add..PRICE !!..Pound for pound, I believe the Endura is the best deal the company offers?

I use a Delica for work mainly because it is sheeple friendly compared to an Endura. Once I'm home the Endura goes in my pocket.

Sounds like you need the new Delica Wharncliffe. Made for a work knife.:)

More pics please! I think the Endura is one of the greatest knife designs of all time. It is, of course, one of my favorite folders!

While I don't own an Endura or a Delica, I must say I pick one of my Pacific Salts 95% of the time over one of my Salt I models.

So I guess I agree with the OP, and most of the reasons CellerDrummer said

i don't understand this logic? i get law or workplace rules, etc says you/i can't have a bigger folder, but people who are scared/uncomfortable of cutting tools are just as scared/uncomfortable of a 3" +- as they are a 4"+- folder, all else equal.

i know a bunch will argue the opposite, but i disagree with them, so be it.

the Dragonfly is the great grandfather of many finger-choil designs. I needed a design in size between the Delica and the Ladybug. I was having a hard time with insufficient purchase of the handle for control and safety. I first learned of "Finger choils" from a design by Moki Sakurai that he made for Kershaw many years ago. It seemed to me to be the best way to solve the ergo problem of purchase. "Old many Moki" was a great designer and a great knife-maker. I worked with the father and the sons (Hiroyoki & Satoru). Now Eric is working with the grandson (Teppei).

We've created many finger choil designs since the D'fly, but that's where it began for us.

Just some history to share.

Love the History Sal, thank you for posting
Now I want a Dragonfly

The Delica just fits my hand better
I tried an Endura, just like the Delica better, it does everything I've ever needed to and then some

My Delica work knife with a fresh edge, it gets abused daily and keeps giving back

As a tradesman in a customer service based line of work (refrigeration/HVAC mechanic), the last thing I'm looking to do is make people uncomfortable while I'm trying to sell them a repair. Often out of curiosity, customers will hang around and watch what I'm doing. The Endura in my opinion is a lot more imposing then a Delica, while A Delica is not nearly as good in my kitchen as an Endura. Hope that's logical enough.
