NVG = night vision goggles, because at least around here, the hunter's moon is the new moon, and it gets DARK out in the middle of nowhere where I live.
BVD's - are what I suspect you were thinking of... and it's a bit chilly to be spending much time outside that close to skyclad this time of year.
