I'd be willing to mail you a practice dummy - one of our medical consultants REALLY got on my wrong side today. I'd even be willing to make him a seal suit to help you get in the mood...

sounds good. poke air holes in the box before you send him. I'll you tube the beating for you :)

Damn! That was sick. He's gonna love it, and I see a few new cymbals in his future. That dude's bass drum work made ME tired. Thanks for the vid.

have your son look up 'vadrum' on youtube, blast beats and thrash metal is impressive...but this guys ability to not just play quickly, but with musicality is what makes him so fun to watch....always makes me wanna pick it back up anyway.

I'm going to have to stop letting him watch all these drummers on youtube! Apparently, I have to buy him a new ride cymbal, tom, and bass pedal at this point. Damn youtube will get in the way of my knife purchases. :(

His older brother just hit me up for a new mute for his trombone, too.

lol, feel blessed to have produced such a interest in music within your children; also give yourself a pat on the back for your facilitation of a musically nurturing environment.
Well done sir.
Remind your kids of something they may learn later in life; some of the greatest music ever created was derived from times of lacking. Some great drummers I have seen in my life were playing on buckets down town Chicago, or chicken pickers playing on a guitar older than dirt with a punched hole in the body but non the less just tearing up the notes and sliding through modes I haven’t the faintest concept of how to navigate. Take a look at most great musicians instruments, they many times are'nt the newest shiniest greatest on the block, it’s what the musician does with the instrument that sets them apart.

You are absolutely right about the music coming from musicians, and not the instrument. When my oldest was first learning guitar, I showed him some Willie Nelson vids, playing that old beater with the hole in it. Sweet music from what looks like a worn out guitar.

I am truly thankful that my kids love music. I have no ability, whatsoever, but they both are amazing. Between the two of them, they play the guitar, baritone horn, trombone, percussion and piano. Worst day of my life was missing my oldest one's first marching band performance while I was in Iraq, but his mom sent me a dvd of it to watch there.

man there have been a lot of old threads being resurrected.
also i think that we have a lot of stickies! we should do like HI did and do a sticky consolidation. 10 is a lot! just an idea.

Got xrays and a script for naproxen. They're checking for blood in my urine since my bladder was so tender and I have abdominal pain.
