I build a trap to see what i might catch. The wood wasnt heavy and the ground was soft so the at worst it might give a headach but wont kill. It got triped 3 times. The last time i got a kangaro mouse. It was traped so i pet it and then let it go..Never use peanut butter as the mice would lick it and wont trip it. I used pastry socked in honey..

Nice? Heck no. I am not thinking that if I see one. This is what I'm thinking:
1. Avoid it.
2. Try not to scream like a girl.
3. Squash it flat as a pancake.

awesome pics man.. Anza Borrego is such a gorgeous area.. i love it out there... we were out that way a few years ago...:)

LOL Rocky, Well just run like a girl but you know that if i know that before i would have to put one in your sleeping bag lol... Then take a video of you yelling like a girl and post it on here lol.. Mtnfolk Mike that area is my favriot one.. Out of all the places i ever been to this is the best.. The best time is the night. With the open sky and the stars are so bright and many.. I just cant think of a better place and better time.

Funny Sasha, if I get one in my sleeping bag you will hear me say a LOT of swear words! LOL.

+1, actually more like this:

1. See it and yelp
2. Spin around quickly to make sure another isn't creepin up
3. Smoosh the bugger while screaming
4. Feel fake creepy crawlies all over and be freaked out the rest of the day
5. Wake up at least a few times during hte night with cold sweats

That about sums it up.

Rocky i wouldnt expect anything less lol. But if you realy want to come out with new swear words that could make a new laungage try and mess with the jumping choia. Trust me been there and done that. Just think of pulling about twenty fish hooks out of your hand and then when you are almost done you end up sticking the other hand with it. I can go on and on... Yes it almost made me cry like a 4 year old girl after 3 hours of pulling them out.

I'd crap my pants if I woke up with that spider in my face.

I held one on a field trip once. It will never, ever, happen again. :)

Did I mention I hate spiders?

Anza Borrego used to be one of my favorite places. I went back a year ago and hiked up to where the oasis used to be. That place got wrecked by flash floods. Real shame, it's not even close to what it was.

I've been going there since I was a little kid. Unfortunately, the level of regulation has increased to the point where it isn't as much fun. Seems like too many arroyos have signs telling you not to do anything. At least it's still pretty.

when it rains it rains out there.. But the real shame is that some fool set everything on fire a few years back..
DWK you can realy do pretty much anything but from the looks it seems that many people shoot anything that moves bolted down or just drive over anything to see how good is there 4wd. Talked to a ranger and he says Latly they had people set fires to old buildings... I dont understand how stupid some people are.

Some years ago the park officials were cutting a route around the Middle Willows section of Coyote Canyon (to protect it from vehicle traffic) and their equipment set that area on fire. Decades of vehicles driving up the rocky creek bed hadn't done as much damage.

[Edit to add: You are correct, there are a fair number of jerks everywhere and they can do some serious damage.]

Oh they have there own share of stupid mistakes... There i agree with you 110%
