AP Limited project...

I have a problem with breaking knives. I know how to take care of a blade I just expect a lot from them. that is the main thing that drove me to Busse knives. Those things are just so thick and beefy. I may very well be alone here but I wouldn't buy a thin Busse. that's why when the newer mean streets came out in .23" instead of .25" I set out to find one of the older ones. The thinner hunter is a good idea and sounds like it would be useful for a lot of folks. But if it were going to be a knife I'd buy it would either have to be some new cool design .25" thick or just plain big. I just don't like thin knives. But back to what was said above...

Bronco... A battle mistress is 350.00 so a 13 incher wouldn't be much more you'd think. Sure a Custom one of a kind knife like that could easily cost 1,800 but if Andy made it a production run I bet they could do it for less. Remember, the reason variants are sooo expensive is in part due to the fact that they are usually one of a kind on top of having a higher grade of finish (satin vs. Coated). Maybe a huge production knife like that could get by costing the customer 650.00 or so. OOOOO it gives me chills thinking about it. Talk about never needing a machete ever again.

Just a suggestion. How about a basic #7 in INFI with a full tang instead of a stick and micarta handles. Perfect camp knife and/or fighter.

Ryu,
I promise you I would never stand in the way of Jerry and Andy making available to us a 13" satin finished INFI bolo for $650.00. If this is possible, I will be the second person in line for one (right behind you, of course
smile.gif
).

But, I don't see this as an "either or" proposition. Let's not forget that Andy's vision of this limited project program includes introducing a new design each year, so there's plenty of room for everyone's ideas. And, just as I'm sure there'd be lots of interest in a reasonably priced bolo or fighter, I also believe that there would be lots of folks clamoring for a Busse hunter.

And as long as this hunter was used for dressing/skinning I can't imagine that 1/8th" stock wouldn't be more that sufficient to provide many lifetimes of reliable service. You'd have to go back to the Jurassic Era to find a critter that couldn't be dressed with a 1/8th" Busse blade
smile.gif
. Remember this is INFI we're talking about. Folks have been skinning deer and such with 1/8th" thick blades of far inferior steels for decades with good results. Imagine the results you'd get with INFI. I could easily see these knives being coveted by professional guides the world over in no time.

WTF, Have you seen the new 6" e-handle combat knife? That's pretty darn close to what you're looking for, and you can order one today

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the best part (for all you high brow, edjumacated folks

). Since we hatched this idea right here on BladeForums we could call this new hunting knife the "BF Skinner"

Note-if that name doesn't strike you as funny, go dig that high school psychology book out of the garage. If it still doesn't make you laugh, then it was just a bad joke

Bronco... I truely think that the thin skinner/hunter is a great idea. And yeah 1/8 INFI would last for ever if all you used it for was to clean your kills. would be great for cleaning fish. But I just can't bring myself to stray from those thick ass blades. A well conceived idea worthy of serious consideration. But I still want a 13 inch chopper darn it all! LOL. I should have just bought that waki! I will have a Busse sword one day mark my words men! Either way what ever the project turns out to be if it has the Prisco name attached to it then it is bound to do well. So good luck to those of you who really need the specific knife style you requested.

$hit! ROFLMA

BTW, I prefer a drop point to a Skinner. I think they operant more efficiently for hunting and require less conditioning.

(yeah, I know, I'm sretching it, but it was a bad joke to begin with)

If you are going for it, the first better be special. Not overly pricey, to catch a following. There is next years edition to think about.
It better be too rich for me as I like using knives and collectors like them NIB.

Here are my sugestion for the next three years. Make them in any order.

A F/S dagger Busse style pig sticker. Because, every one loves to own one, but has an excuse to keep them in a draw.
An old style fighter, large kitchen knife style (pos with silver cross guard).
Because, ever well dressed pioneer used to carry one.
A twelve inch bush sword/golock.
Because, it would interested me.

Whatever you, have one example tested to bits to prove itself. Then have the results splashed across the forum.

Year ten gold plated.

Gold Plated Busse?! How quickly would that thing lose it's coating. I am convinced that now there is probably a layer of the Earth's outer shell that is made up entirely of Busse Ceramic coating chips. Not to say the coating is that easy to chip. Just to say Busse owners like to get out and chop things. I do like the Dagger idea though. I have designed knives that I would like to see Busse make and have drawn up a dagger before. With that .25" stock and a nice graceful bevel it would make one hell of a dagger. Say about as long as a steel heart, double edged, smooth handle instead of the checkered pattern. That would be sweet.
