Alright so which Emerson would you take with you if you were just magically thrown into an apocalypse type scenario? Could be zombies, could be natural disaster, could be war torn region under occupation, killer robots, or whatever you can imagine.

For me it would be the Super CQC-7 for reasons I've already stated some where on the net... Anyways my reasoning is I would need something I could use if need be to break into cars, or houses by ether cutting in or prying something open. The tanto tip, and flat right side would aid the knife in these tasks. I would also need a knife capable of cutting through things like metal sheeting, or thick cuts of rubber, something the 7 would also excel at. The knife would also have to be easy to sharpen in a pinch, which in my mind is what factored out the Commander. If I'm stuck out some where with very minimal supplies and my CQC-7 I could very easily find something to sharpen it on, cinder block, coffee mug, window maybe. I worry I wouldn't be able to find something to sharpen my Commander on as readily, although that's probably not true in reality. Irregardless the tanto shape of the CQC-7 is extreamly easy to sharpen. In a zombie type scenario the super CQC-7 would also make a good brainer I imagine haha.

Anyways what do you guys think?

Of the Emerson's I own, I'd probably go with the CQC-15. It has the tanto tip of the CQC-7 with a little belly on it. The recurve isn't very deep so it wouldn't be too hard to sharpen. If I had my pick of any Emerson, I'd go with the Super CQC-8

Whichever two or three were already in my pockets. Today it would be a Nath Horseman, Roadhouse SF and CQC-10 black serrated. If there were Zombie's involved, I'd make room for my Gypsy Jack.

Emerson PUK.
Fixed blade is always safer.
But if you mean folders, I'll take the cqc7.
Simple but effective

With the choice of any Emerson it would no doubt be the Kandahar.

Of mine, CQC 10.

If I'm grabbing a fixed blade, then it would be a six-inch Kandahar.
If a folder, probably my 7. I love my Super Commander but, on the fly, I would find it a challenge to sharpen the recurve.

Sorry, I know I've posted this pic before, but I could not resist... Now, where are those zombies and robots...

Zombies like the Walking Dead that is my other halls favorite program on TV. I would very much like to see Zombies take over the country.

I would choose the 15, there is no doubt in my mind. Tanto recurve goodness.

They may already have, watch the national news. ;)

Man, Aias, that is one awesome blade! How long you been edc'n it? No, just kidding. I do love that photo though. I'd certainly have to use the Super Commander in an apocolyptic scenario.

Yeah, that would be one wild weapon... My vote for practical uses goes to the uber; I've been using it a lot for daily things and touch it up on a Spyderco golden stone. It's angles are set just right and the edges make sharpening the recurve a breeze.

Any of them. If given a choice it'd be a toss up between a 7 and a 13

Both of those are winners by my estimation--I really do love my 13. Thanks again for the advice when I was on the fence about picking one up.
