Apogee vs. EDC

Well Michael,
They are both extremely nice. They are also very similar to one another. In my mind, the Apogee is like having a personified EDC staring into a carnival mirror. What does the EDC see? An elongated and narrower version of itself.
I personally like the Apogee better, because I like long, slender knives. However, the EDC tends to "lock" into one's hand a little better. Either way you go, you will be happy. Unless you have monstrous mitts, then the EDC won't fit.
I liken this analogy to the Crawford Perfigo and KFF. The Perfigo is to the Apogee, as the KFF is to the EDC.

After owning and playing with (and using both) I would say that an EDC with a pointer blade than most would be the winner.
The handle is more comfortable and the whole knife is more user friendly for me. I prefer the latest EDC's the best. The new hollow grind that Darrel is using works very very well.

Speaking from the production side, I have both the Camillus EDC and ET/OE Paragee. The EDC is the best construted. The Paragee is the better design (my opinion). The Paragee fits my hand far better and also is a more versatile shape. It's more comfortable in a larger variety of grips. I also prefer a "staighter" handle.
Between the Apogee and EDC from Darrel, I'd take the Apogee without a second thought.

Darrel makes a few different sizes of EDC, 3", 3.5" and 4". I have owned them all at one time, along with all of the different sizes of the Apogee. The EDC is wider through the handle giving a more solid, locked in feeling. You get this even with the 3". The Apogee as mentioned, is a narrower style. In it's smallest size, I never quite got the same solid grip as I did with the EDC. I preferred the larger size Apogee in that design, but overall I like the EDC the best.
Darrel discontinued the Apogee because he felt that it's design had evolved as far as it could go. There was nothing wrong with it, nor did he consider it to be inferior to the EDC. I believe Darrel said the Apogee was one of his favorite designs. I imagine the EDC will eventually have the same fate somewhere down the road. Darrel seems to have a few more ideas for the EDC.
