Apology for offensive behaviour.

I need to apologize to everyone here.

Just recently I started adding some of the smiley emoticons in some of my posts. One of these looked like someone who was scratching their chin like they were confused or trying to figure something out.

I just was informed the real meaning of that emoticon. I should have suspected when it's title is jerk it.

I have gone back and removed it from any posts where I could find it. I apologize for anyone I have offended. That was not my intention.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and once again, I'm Sorry.
Mark

Oh man, that cracks me up!

Don't worry Mark, I'm sure everyone has thicker skin than that around here.

If the majority of the folks on here were offended by that emoticon then they will probably bleed to death from their next cut (thin skin)!

It's all in fun and can be seen a lot of different ways...

Carry on, all is well I'm sure.

Charlie

I am absolutely appalled that you would use such an icon:eek: I demand compensation:mad:.

Actually I don't and never saw it. Even if I had it wouldn't have made a difference to me it was just a case of :foot: nothing to be :o about :p

No harm no foul all is good on my front:thumbup:

I always thought it looked like he was playing craps, rolling dice..:D

I'd have a hard time seeing you offending anyone Mark!!! No worries my friend! :)

On a side note, considering how many people get their shorts in a wad over that emoticon, I don't understand why they don't just get rid of it.

I am embarrassed but not offended. I thought the little green guy was shooting craps; ;you can tell where I was raised.
Mark, I thought you might have a gambling addiction and I was going to steer you to gamblers anonymous; God, I'm glad I didn't go down that road.
I feel a whole lot better knowing that you are not spending your nights shooting dice and losing your family fortune.
If anyone should be apologizing it should be me for thinking such a thing.

Besides, you carry the reputation of someone who is
unoffensive to all.
You are one of the good guys in my book.

Regards, Fred

The forum member who told me about it is someone I consider a good friend. I think he was surprised seeing that from me. He told me in a way that was very considerate. I am glad he told me.

Makes me think of when I was in England. I went in a pub and asked the bartender for 2 beers. He couldn't hear me so I pointed at the beer tap and held up 2 fingers. He turned red in the face and walked away without getting my beer.

One of the locals was holding his belly and laughing so hard that I thought he was going to hurt himself. When he finally stopped laughing he told me that next time I held up 2 fingers in a pub to make sure my palm was facing the other person. Seems that when you do it with the back of your hand facing the other person it is the same as our middle finger over here.

After that I found the bartender and apologized. He still looked mad till I left a good tip and gave him a pack of Marlboro cigarettes. At the time US cigarettes were hard to come by over there.

I don't get offended my much; much less emoticons. I hardly ever pay attention to emoticons.

On a side note, considering how many people get their shorts in a wad over that emoticon, I don't understand why they don't just get rid of it.

As the new disney channel commercials say "once something is on the internet, it never goes away."

Mark,
Thanks for clueing me in to what that little animated icon represents. Other than my own minor embarrassment at being minimally computer savy and icon ignorant I can assure you it would take far more for me to take offense than anything you could do here.
BTW, I am in the process of using the block of maple burl I won in your give away a couple of months ago to rescale my Emerson Persian. I'll post the results when I finally get it done. Thanks again, your are one of the good guys.

Heehee! Around here every other vehicle is a pickup with either a decal of Calvin pissing on something or those silly brass balls hanging off the hitch. That jerkit icon is small beans.

I do remember seeing it in one of your posts and thinking it didn't really "fit" whatever you were saying, but I never get offended till it's got my name on it.

It's a good man that will fess up when he could just fix it and stay hushed. Bless you.

That is hilarious!! You need to go to more motorcycle forum websites. Those guys will keep you young and up to date with all the earthy stuff.I was a paratrooper for 10 years so I KNEW that little green man wasn't scratching his chin - although that might be yet another euphemism for what he IS doing. Don't let it bother you. No one is ever too old and dignified to get laughed at.

I've heard that little green guy called "owner operator"

I hadn't seen it in your posts, but does seem out of character for you.

The apology, totally unnecessary, is in character, totally cool.

man that's funny, I thought it was a confused guy scratching his chin too ....

Mark it's good to see someone that cares what people think! That is one of the best posts I've read in some time. Hope that means what I think it does.:D

Scratching his chin......... that's frigging great!........ too funny, man.

It is frowned upon because it has the most potential for being offensive. If that goes, the offensitivity (yeah, I made that word up) will shift to the roll eyes or the barf guy . Plus.... they can't remove it from the list because everyone in W&C will mourn for it.
