Apology

I don't have much to add, except that I've definitely been guilty of typing while upset. All that did was make ME look like a jerk. I'm old enough to know better, but we all make mistakes. Especially online, it's real easy to mouth off, and/or be misunderstood.

We all have a lot in common, more than our differences. Passion can lead to arguments, but that shouldn't make us lose our cool. Sometimes we just need to "agree to disagree."

There's been way too much vitriol around here lately; maybe we're all just stressed by the economy, cabin fever, or whatever. Kevin and Roger, I don't know you guys, but thanks for setting a better example for us. I've made some apologies recently too, and I feel better for it.

EDIT: I'd like to add, recently a fellow forumite took a smart-alec comment I said, the wrong way. Rather than jump down my throat "in public", he sent me a pm asking if I was really trying to be a dick or if he just misunderstood me. Long-story-short, we cleared up the matter within minutes, and I now consider him a friend. He set another good example for all of us :)

Kevin,
I can't say I KNOW you even though we did meet and chat briefly at Blade 2008. From what I perceive from here and our meeting, is that you are sincere about your love of knives and interacting with fellow collectors.

I can also say the same of RogerP and I value both of your contributions, and as stated, I find your threads and input vital to Bladeforums.

I was more than a little disappointed in reading the thread that lead to this apology, to realize the political viewpoints and attitudes of some members on the forum. That being said, I hope everyone can keep the politics to the appropriate forum and discuss Custom knives.

Peter

THANKS VERY MUCH EVERYONE

Kevin - apology accepted and please accept mine in return - as I mentioned in my response to STeven in the earlier thread, I know full well that I can be more pointed with my comments at times than I should be. That approach generally does not advance a point of discussion.

Roger

Accepted, as well Roger and thanks.

Please continue contributing to the forum.
Paul

I'm not going anywhere Paul. This is like a big extended family.

Being self-opinionated, biased or whatever is OK (freedom of speech) and makes for some interesting reading. Being man enough to admit you may have been over the top on occasion and aplogising for it - that takes balls!

Yep I have been.
Was looking over some really old threads and quickly realized how much influence we have on one another here. I have learned a lot here which has brought about a change in the ways I look at some things. One of the many positive things with INTERNET forums.

Good for all involved to handle this as it has been handled.:thumbup:

Normally Coop would say this but for once I will write it in his stead KUMBAYA:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for clearing the air, Kevin. I look forward to what you, RogerP, and, well, what a whole lot of people say here, so I hope to see the points of view, whether they differ in message or delivery (or just one) continue. And if they don't lead to regrettable and unchoice words even amid controversy, I look forward even more.

Thanks Marcel. Only in prescribed doses.

Hi guys,

I found the recurrent KJ vs RP vs KJ dialogs to be painful. I also disliked the political tones in that toxic thread. Worst. Thread. Ever. ;)

I also applaud STeven for attempting to act as referree. He's brilliant in his ways, often.

Kevin and Roger, you BOTH make me smile with your words. There is a time to stand back--even if you disagree or see things differently. Passion overrules to a fault, doesn't it?

I find the angst I carry afterwards and throughout when I enter a contentious discussion to be WAYYYY overriding my need to get a certain point across. For me, it's a cancer to engage. And with my business persona on the line as well, it would be futile. (Not so for others)

It's OK to dial it back a notch now and then. In fact.....

Thanks to both of your for your honor.

Coop

I respect both of you very much. I also very much ejoy your reading your posts. I always learn something from you.

This place would NOT be the same with out you or Roger. The knowledge that the two of you share is priceless. I am glad that you are BOTH here.

One of the things that I really about the custom community, is our ability to agree to disagree. We all have our our feelings and opinions, and all share them. We

I have great respect for both Kevin and Roger, not just because they both had the cajones to do the online handshake. I respect their opinions. And it's the opinions that get out of joint between us all, generally, not the persons. But when those opinions clash, it can set off the personalities. Doesn't mean we don't still like and respect each other.

Guys, you both add value to this forum, the CKCA, each other - and my life in knife collecting. Thanks for being around!

Bob
