appocalypse man

He was probably from california and used to big brother being there and not ever wanting to own a gun because he was too busy hugging the trees. :D

FYI: Not all of us in California are tree huggers. If you looked at a map of the state, 3/4 are Republicans and only SF, LA, San Diego, and a few up in Humbolt are Democrats. Most of us are good ol boys and rednecks.:D

Just saw a few minutes of something.........is this the guy who showed you how to make mogas out of french fry oil, lye and gas additive?

Dosen't sound like you guys were too impressed, so maybe I didn't miss much.

The sewer movement was interesting, but not feasible. The idea of finding sewer prints in a public library is ridiculous IMO.

Some of the other stuff is good. But I'm beginning to get mad at all the Armageddon talk, OUR chances of survival were better because we have practiced, served, and or camped to reach a level of competence needed for self sufficiency. And here goes History, Discovery, telling the cruft where we will likely be passing by in our supply acquisition, movement, taking things that would have helped a good people survive with longevity.

I think i will email and complain. :D

You ever get the idea they read the forums we frequent? ;)

All the time, among a few manufacturers as well, to their credit though.

About the sewer gas and hazards. The show stated that his escape was long after the break down of services, the pumps had stopped, and the sewer was dry, the rain had washed away all the waste "supposedly" that was the premise for entering the sewer. (by California standards that would be years as we don't enjoy alot or rain. So its more than a bit non regional specific)

IMO thats WAY too god damn late to be leaving a CITY or any metropolitan area with a concrete to land ratio exceeding logical sustainability.

he was not leaving the city bro, he was heading into the city to make his "base camp" which I belive to be a grave mistake. why would you want to make a base camp where you may or may not be killed by anyone willing to steal what you have? he has been watching to many will smith movies hence " I am legend" what a joke!

Wow it was so much more entertaining thinking the other way around, thats even dumber than leaving too late maybe.

the more I think about what they had in the show makes me wonder if they really want to just send sheep into the slaughter, I take back my 6 out of 10 and give it a -6. have yall noticed everything on tv is leading upto a very doom and gloom kind of future? maybe I need to have my tv service cut off!!!

I stay to the claim i don't watch too much TV, but I do frequent the stuff on history, and discovery. I keep watching less and less. But I have noticed, the seemingly subliminal hint at armegedon.

Word to the wise, if you go into a sewer system, you might just die. There is a difference between these structures, in this country anyway. Third World areas will probably be entirely different. If storm drains were sewers, you'd smell more nastiness in the street than you do now, I assure you. It would, after all, be an open cesspool. I'm sure as hell not going to argue about it. :)

I caught most of the show. There was some ideas I had not considered on the show. Over all I found the show interesting & entertaining. I would not use as my bible for end of the world survival, but if they have more shows I will try to watch them. The major reason for me to watch is to perhaps open my mind to different ways of doing things. I consider myself wise enough to take good ideas from the show & leave the rest. The problem is that most people IMO can not. I wath personal defence shows on the outdoor channel & treat them much the same way. The thing with this show is it is speculating as to how things might be after shtf. Things could be quite different. I am impressed how the scenes look in the show. The surroundings look pretty beat up & worn. Everything looks like hell broke loose. I agree with Mean's origional post of 6 out of 10

I watched it. Found it interesting. One thing I did notice about Apocalypse Man's methods is that, no matter what you're doing, it's important to RUN where ever you go.

Unless you're in the sewer. Oh and only be stealthy inside apartment buildings.

I was a kid exploring storm drains before it was even called "draining." A hell of a lot skinnier and shorter! And you can get a zombie shuffle going on that amounts to a couple miles per hour if you have to. Bring plenty of Ibuprofen if you think you are going more than 100 yards in one. You are bent over except in all but the largest and you are going to be hurting. :)
