This 15 year old young mans knife was outstanding for his first attempt. All I did was the buffing. All the design work, grinding & material selection he did himself.

Uh-oh. I'm picking up my toys and going home.

That first knife makes the rest of us grunts look like hacks! Great work!

Just don't make any more knives, okay? :D

I believe that is the nicest "first knife" I recall ever seeing. Heck, that would be a nice knife if it was his 500th!

Nice work!

(Don't you just hate these upstart young guys?) :D

I think he might be able to make knives, even though my sixth year ones don't look near that good.

Some people got it some of us ain't.

Dave, tell this guy he does nice work! He must be a good student and evidently you are a heck of a teacher!

Outstanding!! I think it's a great, flowing design (love the big false edge/swedge), and the handle looks comfy. It just looks "right" to me.

Kevin,
I am going to ask he and his father if he would like to go to the knife show in Mystic in May.
Thanks to Every Ones Reply, I am sure he will Appreciate it:thumbup:

Dave
I have seen a lot of first knives and this one is by far the nicest i have seen. He needs to get himself a mark. So everyone knows who made it. Well done.

Thanks Robert,
Hopefully he will be making another knife soon and I will have him think about how he wants to mark/stamp his blade. Good Idea!!!

Wow. Thats really fantastic. You'll have people sleeping in your ditch waiting for an apprentice spot after this.

I wish I was that talented.

Hey Ed,

Kinda makes you frustrated, doesn't it? :D I know my first efforts looked nothing at all like that. I felt like a one eyed, spastic sloth when I was grinding my first blade.

Just drop a line when you need out to the shop.
