The Bowie is tempting me, but after some thought, I need to be saving up for something I can EDC easily.

Better? I don't know. Aunty didn't say anything about weight, length or handle. So it's a bit of a surprise but I'm sure it's all good like all my HI blades.

AK more of a chopper, M43 weapon and chopper. Both could do damage, a lot, no matter the substance. These are both sturdy and around same weight, some length advantage for the AK. I think all AK by definition have a fuller, that prevents too much of an embedding into the wood. Not that I had this problem with the M43.

I love my M43, don't have an AK, and for an all-around use kukri I would favor it. For heavy choping I'd get an AK. Well actulally I'd pick a Bonecutter, it tickles my fancy more than the AK.
