Aprons(?)

I just got a thick lined work shirt from Carhartt since I was getting little slivers stuck in my other shirts. It mostly happens when hogging with 36 grit. I just leave it hanging in the garage. It's pretty comfortable for the temps we've had lately.

That was something I forgot to mention about the cotton welding jacket/shirt. Due to the cloth's smooth, tight weave, metal particles fall off of it which is really nice. A quick shake and the shirt is free of grinding debris.

Pre-owned cotton hoody from Value Village. You can tell I wipe glue off my hands on it all the time.

In the winter, I just wear a leather jacket over top of it, also from Value Village (can't bring myself to wipe glue on it though haha).

Here's part of the learning curve that led me to these items:

Yes, I wear a denim apron. It's light, covers from my collar to my knees, and it keeps all manner of grinding dust off of my clothes so I don't have to disrobe as soon as I go inside. I am no longer banned from the furniture.

My thoughts exactly, although I did buy a leather welding apron at Canadian Tire and wear it a few times to see if I liked it or if it added any benefit. But it just pulled on my neck and was uncomfortable, restricted my mobility, limited access to my pockets, and just generally made everything more difficult for me.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

I have a leather one I made many years ago out of heavy approximately 10-12 oz. chrome tan leather I got really cheap. I wear it when I buff blades as added protection incase the buffer decides to grab a blade and throw it back at me.

Sparks will tear up synthetic clothes.

100 % cotton shirts, pants, maybe coveralls if you like them, shop coats,

Denim shirts like Walter Sorrells wears https://s1.dmcdn.net/v/KneJ61PPbTMocgykG/x240

"duck coats" (duck is a type of cotton cloth, heavier and coarser than quilting cotton, lighter than denim.) - Carhartt type jackets.

Wool if you're cold, but the cotton usually has a smoother finish.

I grind in a "Wife Beater", shorts and flip flops.
So, ya I grind with a leather apron.

i wear the denim apron from jantz for everything except buffing. for buffing a heavier leather apron. i think its a welding apron.

I have the new collab apron from Mareko. Super high quality and tons of well thought out pockets. The straps cross over the shoulders so it’s not hanging on your neck. The best part, is that it’s ridiculously light. When I got it in the mail I thought there was no way the apron was inside.

It’s replacing my heavy leather apron that hangs off my neck like a 5lb weight.

That looks really cool, the price tag is also fair considering the fabric material and all.

I have a Carhartt apron and if I'm grinding a lot ill wear it or a pair of canvas overalls to keep from ruining my shop shirts. I have no problem getting my shirts dirty but it seems like the sparks and meatal get stuck in the shirt fabric where they hit at chest/neck level and don't wash out and itch.
