truthseeker is correct, the very early S&Ws were contracted but they are now making the rifle in house.
My current project is an ultra-light AR for the SO, I am using a Calvary Arms lower with an old Colt up that has the tapered light to heavy barrel. The lower is a one piece molded unit that is very light. This should weigh in at about 4.5 pounds complete.
