AR600 armor plate for knifemaking?

I have seen an AR500 San Mai blade, and it looked nice since the AR500 core doesn't etch much, but it would perform as others have said.
Tough but lacking edge retention.
Edge retention would depend only on the core , which should NOT be of AR500 ? Core should be the harder but less tough steel .

This depends on the intended usage...

A wear resistant low toughness folder, I agree. A knife that you are planning to use for rough cutting (dirty indoor/ourdoor carpet with grit imbedded, wood that may have nails, window sills and such, et al), I would go with the tougher alloy.

That being said, the particular description that I stated, would be for show.

As far as I know, the core of this blade is AR500, though I am hoping for a correction.
