My wife bought me my second Spydie today. I bought the first one as a present for surviving a nasty storm (trees and powerlines almost fell on our car as we were driving).

An FRN S30V Native and two 204UF stones are heading our way. :D

Now to buy a VG-10 Delica to open up the S30V Native's box.

I don't need any of the righty only models. Maybe a Dodo, an Endura, an ATR, a Chinook II...

Hey!

thombrogan

We'll have to see if the griptillian stays as your EDC after you get your hands on the Native. ;)

Only a few months until the Native 3D comes out :D

4 s ter,

We'll see this week, I guess. Just realized that I change my EDC a lot, but I always have a stainless steel generic SAK on me no matter what.

Today, I came home to find two boxes wrapped in Sesame St. birthday paper.

My wife said they just showed up on our doorstep and then valiantly fought to keep a straight face.

From Bayou LaFourche came a plain edge FRM Delica. It would need to ground flat for hours on a belt sander to be reduced to scary sharp.

From SFO was an S30V Native (also plain edge FRM) and the 204UF ceramic rods and....

a Spyderco lapel pin and a Meerkat (the knife, that is)!

After having to ask how to unscrew my Clip-its (they weren't loosening until I put a coin in both ends and twisted per Mike from repair's suggestion), I called SFO. Christina said that the lapel pin and the Meerkat were compliments of Spyderco for being their customer.

Cool thing that the Meerkat had closing instructions. The knife flew out of my hand and landed near my wife's feet   on my first closing attempt. Pilot error.

My beautiful queen still has all of her toes and now I've got the Native clipped to my left pocket. Getting used to the integrated choil thingy will take some work.

I'm afraid to try touching these up on the 204UF stones because I don't want to be responsible for opening a hole in the space-time continuum.

Thank you, Spyderco!

If you don't have a Police model, that MUST be your NEXT Spydie purchase! The SS (fully-serrated) Police is MY favorite folder.

The Delica and the Police make such a cute pair.:).

I'm waiting for the CF Delica to pair up with my CF Police for a really cute pair :)

Hi Thom,

Re getting used to the Native's choil: you only need to use it when you want extra control over the blade for fine-detail work. (Holding it with your finger in the choil also helps to reduce the perceived size of the knife when used in public.) Otherwise, you can just keep your first knuckle in back of the horn on the handle as on other knives. The Native is my EDC and I only use the choil about 10% of the time I cut with it.

Congrats on the new Spydies!

Johnny

u812,

The edge of the Native tied with my 921 Switchbacks for sharpest out of box and the Delica was even sharper. Up until last night, every other out of box edge was sharp but could be sharper.

JohnnyLightOn,

I like getting used to the integrated choil. While I generally trust lockbacks, I really really like the idea of crushing one finger instead of losing three or four were something bad to happen.

Glockman99,

My next MUST-have Spydie is the Dodo. My next WANT is the ATR or the Chinook II. The police is a brilliant piece, but it's not for me. Besides, I'm running out of pockets. :D

Anyone here get adept at closing the Meerkat with their left hand?

I can close it left handed. Its the same as right handed except instead of your thumd you are useing your middle finger.

I carry my meerkat left/rear because it is easy to close left handed. I just move the lock and wrist flick to close, but that's also right handed too.
you'll find you'll soon like the choil, getting used to sliding your finger up there when you open. Great for tip control b/c you can choke up on the blade and reach your thumb pretty close to the tip(even on the millie).

as to the pocket problem, start buying rigs.
I carry 4 in the main pockets(front and rear), 1 IWB/right... have 2 rigs coming from Eric "Normark", and the next spydie I buy(Lil Temp Trailing Point) will be getting a belt rig(hori/blade down)...
