Arc flashlight is no more.

A big shock to say the least. Their products and service were number 1. Truly a sad day. Just hope something can be salvaged somehow :(

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

This is so sad and so bad!

My AAA LE was the single most impressive gadget I have ever owned.

My condolences to Peter and ARC,

This is sad. I never had a chance to get an Arc, I got a Peak instead. It's not as impressive, from the candlepowerforums reviews. It's a nice light though.

Sorry to hear about Arc. :(
I wonder what the next great AAA will turn out to be...

As an owner of several AAA's this is truly a sad day for me. I know they were having some trouble with their step-up converters but... All in all, a great product.

It's sad but what impressed me was the way that he fessed up to everything that went on and is trying to make everything right in the time that is left.

Jeez, Louise! And I just got started! With the exception of the internals, the Peak AAA Prototype going for $14.95 shipped is exactly identical to the Arc AAA (same body), so you can still get a good AAA light.

I read through the CPF thread, and the biggest surprise is that all these people who post on the Arc forum (but apparently don't read it??), are somehow "shocked" by something that's been so obvious, for so long, now.
It's a shame, though. The Arc AAA-P on my keys, and the LSH on a 2AA twisty that I keep for around the house handle the majority of my flashlight use, and I was planning to buy a couple of ten-packs of standard AAAs for Christmas gifts if Arc offered them this year.
Oh well :(
Peter Gransee may have handled the business itself poorly, but he sure designed some fine, and incredibly practical flashlights, IMO.

It is gracious of PG to take the blame but I bet the lawsuit from that evil and despicable other flashlight company had something to do with it. It must have cost Arc dearly in legal fees. It's a sad day indeed. :(

Here's the "trials" I can name off the top of my head, there where probably more:

m@glite lawsuit
Chip failures in product
Switch problems in product
Anodizing problems at various times
Owing money to a machine shop, (which begat Peak)
Separation of Henry and HDS

I bet you're right, Peter. Who knows the real story behind all that, though, expect the two of them? What a mess! Hopefully Peter will start back up with someone else or his designs will be reborn. There is a definite difference between making a good product and running a successful business, though. It's unfortunate, but I hope this hasn't burned him out completely and someone in the industry says "You know what, let's grab this guy while we can." Hell, Peak is on the up-and-up... they should go get him!
