Arctic white coating question-help.

Yeah, I found that same Arctic NMFSH on the exchange. Was about to go for it after seeing on here that you might not be interested. Then I saw the thickness of the blade and I was out. I could deal with the Arctic, on it, beat up, or stripped. But I just can't deal with a blade that thick, unless it is the poll of a tomahawk. I guess I'm an odd man out on thick blades, but I really dislike them.

I'm in that minority with you. I have a NMSFNO that is around .25 thick, it's a great knife that I love using but it's about as fat as I'd go with a knife that I'll do anything more than chopping, batoning, crashing, and smashing with.

My ears were ringing.

OK,.. sounds like a challenge.

Hoping Jasco has a little more "ass" than the Citristrip.

Now in hungry👍

Wild Turkey, that brings back some memories- of nights I don't remember 😁😁😁😁

Piece of cake

Didnt have time to eat my sandwich or even take pics.

Jasco started reacting immediately. What was a pain in the ass... was that the coating that I wasnt able to scrap/wipe off would seem to re adhere itself when neutralizing w/ water..small things. Small amount of stripper on toothbrush, working the spots and wiping off before rinse...like a charm. Still have a little to go,.. inside talon holes, some spots around the scales..

This is the results, literally after minutes..(less than 30 mins) of work..

To polish or not??

Ahh..time for brunch.

That blade looks very clean, no obvious tool marks or dimples visible in the pic.

Now I'm kicking myself for not buying it.

Any better pics of the blade because it looks great so far.

Thanks, fellas.

@ AbominAble ..I will post some better pics, for sure, waiting for the sun to come up). It is clean (still covered in decarb, but looks good) and still for sale (oh yea, I need to close the original listing)..get @ me if your still interested..

Another lousy pic for now

I've stripped 7 Busses and a couple Rats & Dogs each, and I haven't found any particular color or knife model more difficult or easier to strip than any other...and I always use Jasco

I stripped a TGLB in Tanker Gray that literally slid off in couple big pieces easier than peeling a banana and I bought another identical TGLB expecting a similar walk in the park, but then I had to use a Jarbenza to scrape away plaques of adhered coating- after that I used a heavy duty scotch brite like thing that my wife uses to clean baking pans at work-- it was a HUGE PITA-- same model, same can of stripper, same color coating, same everything!

I've noticed the same variances in ease/difficulty of stripability within other identical colors also- sage for instance- one will be super easy, the other not so easy.

I can't find any dependable pattern...it's as if the decarb "lets go" of the coating easier sometimes...maybe the decarb gets accidentally adulturated with some oils/solvents prior to coating with the paint and that makes it release easier when we go to strip??? ....Maybe??? Maybe not???

I'm grasping at straws at this point...wish I could find a discernible pattern in the colors to aid in stripping...

Granted, I have limited experience with strippers  compared to most HOGS ;)...I'm just a wee baby squealer, in that regard hahahahaha

Hey, Petey

Thanks for your insight, man..Im just a piglet myself (perhaps a javelina at best)..still learning. This is just the third blade Ive stripped..HHFSH w/ black crinkle coat..easiest by far,,came off like a prom dress, and almost no decarb......HG55 w/ sage..was kind of a bitch...the coating that came off, came off easy..but some spots...spine/tang along the handle was holding fast...really had to scrape..Used Citristrip on both..

The NMFSH w/ Actic Wht..came off very easy, however..the coating seem to liquefy w/ the stripper as opposed to coming of in clumps, as the black and sage coatings did...not sure if that is the result of Jasco vs Citristrip or the coating type..Arctic/Sage etc..

So far, doesnt seem to be rhyme or reason..

I have to admit that it's looking pretty good but I think I'm on the hunt for a 1311 instead. I was seriously considering your NMFSH and would've sold my NMSFNO because I wanted the extra length of the FSH but the NMSFNO is stout enough for what I need and the NMFSH is just too fat for what I will use it for.
It's still tempting though, very tempting.

Any dimples in that beast?

I dont think this has dimples..I will end up polishing it to find out. I love the fusion handles, but found that the NMSFNO is my favorite in this size...If I had to grab one blade in this range, it would be a melted Outlaw...even over my beloved HHFSH

one of these..

Or this Sage coated Outlaw...my next stripper project, for sure

the next stripper project
