Are all knife brands, types, etc. cheaper on ebay? I imagine many people on here, unlike me, have extensive experience comparison shopping for prices on knives.

If ebay listings are well written they attract enough buyers to increase the price higher than many ordinary online sellers. It is also common for an ebay seller to charge more for shipping than a good online store.

Regardless of where you shop on the net you need to compare shipping costs to determine your best deal.

They have great prices and support Bladeforums.

No. I discovered that quite fast.

If you are not in the US, I suggest NewGraham.

You can also check here in the sale section.

For current-production new knives, I'd rather buy from a dealer than from an eBay seller. You don't always save money on eBay, there are a lot of knockoff forgeries, and there's always a question of no-hassle returns.

Or a question of any return, in my experience.

I would buy through the forum for sale ads or a dealer with a lot more confidence than a complete stranger. I've been burned on deals with 99% great ratings when the schmuck oversold and walked away with my money. Ebay, Pay Pal, and the whole lot create obstacles to prove the ripoff more than fix the problem.

Ebay is like CB radio now. No manners, plenty of "hookers", and lots of noise. Go high freq or sideband, go to the forums.

I've actually found that GP Knives is typically cheaper than you can find knives on ebay. I had specifically been shopping Benchmade and CRKT knives when I found this.

Some things on E-bay are ok, But remember the golden rule, " Buyer beware". When you buy from a company , they have a reputation to keep up, Or no sales. When you have a problem with your order, its nice to talk to a company rep. I have had to send some knives back to the company for repair They usually send me a new knife. Sometimes thats enough to pay a little more.

Think of Ebay as a giant online flea market. You can find some bargains, but you really have to sift through a pile of junk and deal with unsavory characters to get the good stuff at a good price. I do my best to stay off of ebay.

I've had relatively good success buying and selling knives (and other merchandise as well) on eBay. It's not my preferred method of doing business, but I haven't been ripped off yet. Then again, I never do business with anyone who has less than a 99% feedback rating.

Historically I have been sort of an ebay predator. I usually take advantage of ignorant or inexperienced sellers and buy knives at ridiculously low prices. I always look for badly written descriptions and then snipe my bid in the last 15 seconds. My motto is "seller beware".

I have preyed on the al mar section of ebay for the last 2 years, I get a lot of nice knives, occasionally I steal one or two, I find that some of my best buys come from everybody here at Blade, as you are not in the competitive bidding mode, if I think a price is high here I contact the seller and can usually get the knife. Ebay is best when you employ hammersnipe, or find good buy it nows and act on them!

i sale on ebay and buy on ebay and i had 1 deal go bad in all of my 5 years with ebay. i also sell knives or whatever on ebay and i offer a return if it was not described completely or not satisfied. just my 2cents!

Amanda, for practical as well as financial reasons, I lean toward buying lower priced but still good quality knives, such as the excellent fixed blade Mora (Swedish) knives, and great pocket knives such as Victorinox (Swiss) and Opinel (French). Your best source for the Moras and other Scandinavian knives is probably www.ragweedforge.com. Ragnar has a great selection, and his prices and reputation equal his selection. I buy most of my pocket knives from www.eknifeworks.com because they sell a good selection of Victorinox Swiss Army Knives and Opinel folders of all sizes at good prices. I've bought from SMKW for many years with complete satisfaction. Like many other large outlets, SMKW sells some junk, but if you pick out a good brand you will be happy with your purchase. I noticed the price of a favorite model of Opinel from another company just a few days ago, and it was over three times the price for the identical model from SMKW! BEWARE. SHOP AROUND.
