I'm no metallurgist, but I think bronze resists corrosion better than brass.
Here's a couple excerpts from Wikipedia on Phosphor Bronze...
"...notable for their toughness, strength, low coefficient of friction, and fine grain"
"Phosphor bronze is used for springs, bolts and various other items used in situations where resistance to fatigue, wear and chemical corrosion are required"
I can't really say I've ever seen a folder described as having brass washers in the last 10 or so years. Most knives are either PB, Teflon, Nylatron, or similar these days. If it was superior to the materials already mentioned, I'm sure everyone would be using them.
