Are buffing wheels directional?

Thanks guys. A lot of good info here. I was wearing a respirator and googles. The blade was not sharpened, and i only use the lower parts of the buffing wheel. I was trying to get scratches out of the hollow grind i did on this blade.

:D thats pretty funny. i seen a contraption here on the forum where you would need something like that to use it. thats why it always pays to use something thats been on the market and is safe to use.

Buffers are great I bought one from BALDOR that is a third of a horse power and that's plenty for polishing, I've been using them for decades. I did launch a knife into my leg this year though which sucked. $4k of stitches in my quad. Still feels funny. Trying to figure out how to keep this new BALDOR from making the entire bench shake like crazy. I don't think my bench is heavy enough for it. In the knife shop we have like 4 of them 3/4 HP so do be careful and learn how to use them.

If it is shaking, something is bent or the buff isn't mounted right.
