Are Cold Steels handles, that bad?

Hi SlamFire,

Mold sounds reasonable, except, these knives are stored with other Kraton handled knives from other manufacturers and not a one of those has this problem. Heat and humidity are not factors either as they are stored in a climate controlled environment.

Anyway, I have plenty of replacement handle material on hand, so fixing them is just a weekend project. Trying to decide what I'll replace them with is proving to be the biggest chore. I've got at least twenty-two different exotic hardwoods to choose from along with some buff horn, stag, and some G-10 too. The only hardwood species I've ruled out so far is the presentation grade Ironwood. Cold Steel knives are good, but, not that good!:D

All the best,
Mike U.

I have 17" upper arms and I couldn't rip the handles off of the Bush Ranger or the SRK. Then again, I do have small wrists and little girly hands.:(
