Are grinds maker specific

I really like the gut shovel grind that Mick strider uses however I dont nor do i ever see myself having $2500+ for a knife and I prefer smallish fixed blades. Is it considered bad form to ask another maker to make a knife with a gut shovel grind?

I don't see any elements in that blade that I haven't seen in other people's work. The "gut shovel" is what appears to be Strider's label for that particular blade in that particular knife.

I would make a drawing of what you want and send that to your bladesmith, rather than asking them to copy something. Not that Mick Strider is anyone's favorite felon, but the maker will probably prefer not feeling like they are engaged in something unsavory.
