Are Hogue knives any good?

Baton??? Ok I’ll bite, why???
I have used my EX4 as a work knife for years, HVAC. It has stood up to some nasty shit with no problems at all. Any doubts??? They have a safety.
Baton??? With a button lock folder?? Ummmmm no.

Yeah, batoning equals abuse. The guy that wrote the comment says he used it this way on a camping trip and busted the lock apart doing some light batoning. I don’t know what his version of light batoning is but I just wanted to ask about durability.

I own the EX-01 4” Gmascus, and 3.5” Aluminum and they are fantastic knives. Incredibly smooth, riding on literally nothing lol. They have a washer-less system which I have found to work extremely well. Both knives have stiff detents that, when overcome, permit the blade to deploy and lockup with authority. The button locks function well, and have never failed on me. The steel choice is absolutely fine with 154CM. I like the 3.5” version more, finding its ergonomics nearly perfect. Although I didn’t care for the shark-like appareance of one of Hogue’s later releases, I am always excited when they bring out something new; they make great knives

The X5 and Micro Flip are probably my favorites by them.

I was unaware of the Microflip until this thread. 'Course I had to order one. I've got this little dude on the way from BladeHQ:

Not sure how the aqua will look in person, but I'm hoping it'll match one of the synths I have. :D:thumbsup:

Hey guys, as the title says, I’m looking for opinions about Hogue knives. I like several of their designs but haven’t held one to see how it feels. From what I’ve seen, they get decent reviews from online sellers. Some folks complain about the detent and blade being hard to open. For those of you that have owned and used Hogue knives, please tell me what you think. They look well made and durable but do they perform well and are built to last?
I have had an EX01 for several years. It opens smoothly and easily. Lockup is very solid. Ergos suit me because I prefer a larger handle. The blade takes and holds an edge well. I really like the clip. It has good retention and slips on and off of the pocket smoothly. It is definitely built to last. There was a YouTube video when the EX01 came out with the designer showing the different features and showing how he had designed it to be a robust knife. As you can undoubtedly tell, I really like mine.

Yup!! That was A. Elishewitz, excuse the horrible massacre of his name!!
Ordered my EX4 right after that vid!

Well, no match :(, but still a super sweet little knife. :D Fires open like a rocket, locks up tight in all directions, and feels great in my chubby paw, especially given its size.

The colors look much different on camera but are actually less different in person. o_O

Too bad the colors are different, sounds like you got a nice knife though. Congrats

I liked the aqua version because it was different. As much as I love black, OD, FDE, etc., this color caught my eye. I was hoping it would match the synth, just for the coolness factor, but it wasn't my main reason for going with this color, so it's not a huge deal.

edit: A side benefit is the Arturia has been sitting in my closet for several months while I've focused on other keyboards. Pulling it out to snap the pics made me want to plug it back in again. I play it better than just about any other keyboard, despite the mini keys. I might have to do some jammin' with it this weekend. :D

Great!!!

Two that caught my eye are the EX01 with aluminum handles and satin blade, and the EX02 with G10 handles. The only thing I really find unappealing as far as looks go on the EX01 is the pocket clip, it looks like I could remove the screws and use it to eat a bowl of cereal.

Yeah I hate the pocket clip on them too. The ex2 dyoesn’t have that ugly spoon clip. I saw that this year Hogue is releasing a Sig Saur vesrion of he ex01. It comes with a much better looking deep carry clip. (Not a spoon shaped one) I plan on contacting Hogue soon and asking them to send me the new clip.

I got this one in a trade back when these first came out. I also hated the clip so I sent it off to a forum member (STR I think, it's been a while) who made a deep carry clip for it. The knife is solid, excellent lock up, perfect centering, whole nine yards. But I'll admit I very rarely ever carry it anymore.
