Are liner locks unsafe?

Any lock can fail, regardless of whether it's the much vaunted axis lock or not.
Boards like this have to beat dead horses because we're always getting in new members and enthusiasts and it's natural that we revisit the same old tired topics as they may be new to some. It also gives others of us who have matured a chance to either change their tune or reconfirm their earlier views.

As far as your argument goes, what are you saying? Because all locks fail, all are equal? It's true that while all locks can fail, some are less likely to fail. Even though a CRKT liner lock can fail with the LAWKS, does that mean that the LAWKS is undesirable? If any brake can fail, does that mean anti-lock brakes are a waste of money?

If someone opens a liner lock carefully and doesn't flip it open with force, it should last a reasonable amount of time. But if someone can get a better lock for the same price, why should they buy a liner lock? In a world of slipjoints, the liner lock is king; however, in a world of locking knives, liner locks are just kind of the last face on the totem pole.

Does a better lock mean a better knife? The problem I find is that there are lots of knives out there that I find that are inferior as knives that might have a better lock and whole lot of what I consider good knives with liner locks.

Maybe its the marketplaces fault...perhaps the inferiority of the liner lock is still somewhat of a secret.

a well fitted liner lock isnt inferior to anything.

why buy a liner lock? because some of the best SD folders made only come with a liner lock.

Inferiority and superiority of the lock aside, liner locks are prevalent because they're cheap to make. And, they're an acceptable locking system to most people.

I did not mean all locks are equal.
I own near every lock I can think of and out of all of them there are only a few that I am truly 'iffy' about , the mentioned Schrade for instance.

What I was getting at was another thread where the enthusiasts for one knife company bash the knives and locks of the other knife companies.
