Are Lum Chinese in ZDP considered defective?

You are as well doing profiling - history about bias... This is very I guess universal answer on any valid conserns - no need to bother to explain anything - pull out profile, add label - case closed.

I am not replaying to LorenzoL post - he is in my ignore list.

But here

Yup, the ZDP Mule had a heat-treat problem. The ZDP Lum was a sprint run, so once they sold out, Spyderco couldn't replace the knife. If he sent his in with a problem that couldn't be repaired, and no replacement was available, they would have just given him credit for the MSRP of the knife toward something else rather than send a potential law suit back to him. There was no general recall that I ever heard about, and I follow this stuff fairly closely.

I allow myself to bold what was seems to me to be reason for concern. Here it is clear that knife sent to warranty can be hold by manufacturer against customer will, with excuse to avoid potential law suit.

This statement bother me and I think some Spyderco representative need to make it clear - is it truth or not.

Thanks, Vassili.

Maybe since Bob Lum was chinese but used Japanese steel it could be considered defective......for defecting.

Dudum chhhhh.

Well, while neither Yab or I work for Spyderco, so he could be wrong, or I could be wrong, or both.

However, AFAIK, Spyderco's normal policy with a knife with a warranty issue which cannot be repaired, and for which no replacement knife is available, is to offer the customer the choice of a credit a SFO for the final (highest) MSRP the knife sold for, or to have the knife returned to them with the understanding that it should not be used. I'm sure most people chose the first option. In cases where there is no warranty issue, just abuse, neglect, or normal wear and tear, and the knife cannot be fixed, then the customer is given the choice of paying for return shipment and getting the knife back with a recommendation that it should not be used, or not paying and having Spyderco dispose of the knife.

While some dealers may refund a customer's money if they buy something they are dissatisfied with, AFAIK, Spyderco does not and has never offered a "money back" guarantee. I doubt any amount of shoe banging is going to change that.

OK, after hearing from Yab and Paul I think I got all the answers I need. I am locking this thread to prevent more anyti-Spyderco trolling by Vassili. Thank you all for your input.
