Are model numbers necessary?

I think I see a trend here. :)
We had a meeting regarding this issue and I had forwarded this thread to the project engineer beforehand. Just as it is in this thread, the decision was unanimous. Part numbers are here to stay! The decision was also made to retro this and start putting numbers on models that did not have them in the past. It is possible that some models won't end up with a number stamped on them because there simply is no room, but this will be the exception.

Thanks all for the feedback. One of the aspects of customer service is not to add an expense that the consumers do not really want and do not really want to pay for. This is a nice confirmation that the model numbers are worth doing.
